Genre Choice

What Genre of music are you going to feature?
The genre of music i am going to feature is Alternative music as it is my personal favourite genre, Alternative music is a popular genre in England but not as successful world wide although it is known world wide.

What are it's origins?
Alternative music  is a genre of rock music that emerged from the independent music underground of the 1980s and became widely popular by the 1990s. Although its most commonly associated in with a loud, distorted guitar sound, its original meaning was broader, referring to a generation of musicians with the independent do it your self attitude when it came to recording or writing. alternative is seen to be descended from rock and punk rock and can also be known as "Indie" or more commonly known "Brit pop"

What examples of artists and magazines are there?
when is comes to alternative music there are too many artists too list, some of the most popular are:

  • Oasis
  • The Who
  • Blur
  • The Strokes
  • The Libertines
  • Kasabian
  • The Killers
  • Arctic Monkeys
  • The Courteeners
  • the Cribs
  • Jamie T
  • Babyshambles
  • Two door cinema club
  • Biffy Clyro
  • The Black Keys

  • Franz Ferdinand
The list is too long to go on.

Above is a video of an example of a crowd that would be seen in the music magazine i will select.
