Feminism

what is feminism?
Feminism is the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men which basically means men and woman should have equal rights

How did it originate
In the early 1900s woman began campaigning against men being more important than women, they never really got anything out of their campaign until the second world war were woman were given jobs in factories. In the factories they would make Bombs, Knives bullets etc. After the war women new they could do these jobs they had been doing during the war, so their campaign was in full effect.

Feminism in the media
There is a lot of feminism in the media, for example usually when a woman artist is on the front cover or even in a magazine the image of them is usually a seductive or attractive image as it makes readers or potential buyer curios as to what’s inside, it is very rare that the female will have her whole body covered up or an unattractive picture on it but sometimes it does happen. Beth Ditto lead front woman of the band "The Gossip" done exactly that, the front woman has done this on two occasions. On the front cover of "NME" in 2007 and the front cover of "LOVE" magazine in 2009.

The reason behind Ditto's naked poses are to fight the rights that woman are not all the same, meaning they are not all just skin and bone. Ditto thinks all women are beautiful no matter how old, young, chubby or skinny they are. On the NME cover ditto is showing her "Big" naked body but also shows armpit hair to emphasise she doesn't care what people think of her or her body.
